An Introduction
We're busy. Obligations and commitments fill up our schedules. Often, we put others' needs before our own and go way beyond our means to make others happy. We have appointments, meetings, work, school, friends and family, children and pets. We work out, sleep, eat, come and go, return and leave. We play and work, we laugh and cry. All too often, we get so wrapped up in the ups and downs of life that we forget to pause and just exist, listen to our breath and heartbeats and honor the signals and messages our bodies tell us. We rarely take 'me' time.
The body is an amazing thing. All the tissues, organs and veins work together, each part of it playing a integral role in keeping us alive. Yet we constantly beat our bodies up and tear ourselves down. We berate our bodies with negative thinking in our minds. We force our bodies beyond exhaustion, filling them with caffeine and medications to keep them going when they are too tired to go. We starve them and manipulate them, overfeed them and fill them with chemicals. We try to make them into things they weren't meant to be. We are can be terrible to ourselves, our worst critic, an enemy to ourselves.
This is a project to commit to stop negativity and begin to love ourselves and others, honor our feelings and intuition and learn something new about the world or ourselves everyday.
The 3 L's
Listen, Love, Learn.
Listen, Love, Learn.
I am guilty of hurting my mind and body by my own devices. I decided to start this blog as a challenge to myself to stop forcing my body beyond it's means, listen to the things it tells me and feed it when it is hungry and pamper it when it is feeling worn and used. I want to be better to myself and I want to inspire others to do the same. In addition to listening to my body signals and messages, I want to develop a deeper relationship with myself and others. I want to learn to love my body and my mind so that I can love others deeply and genuinely.
Finally, everyday is a learning experience. I want to challenge myself to seek those lessons out in day to day life and reflect on them. I want others to do (and share) the same.
Fifteen Minutes
Each day, I am going to commit to spending an uninterrupted fifteen minutes thinking and writing about the three L's. This blog will be the place I share what I learn in hopes to inspire others. Feel free to link and share your thoughts as well.
